World Championships, Niseko 2026

The 2026 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships took place on Hokkaido, in Niseko and Kutchan. Three races in four days, and a medal from each of them.

  • Gold · Gran Fondo road race, women 40–44
  • Gold · team relay with Team Poland
  • Silver · individual time trial, women 40–44

The time trial and road race results are in the women’s 40–44 age category, not the open classification.

„Following her silver medal in the individual time trial (ITT) and her gold in the team relay, Alina Mylka became the most successful rider of the week as she dominated the Women 40-44 road race.”

The time trial and silver

First up was the individual time trial on 27 August: 15 km, starting and finishing at Kyowa Town Hall. I finished second in the 40–44 category.

From the start line to the podium: a World Championship silver medal in the time trial. One more rainbow jersey memory to keep forever.

The team relay in Kutchan

The next day, 28 August, we raced the team relay in Kutchan, in teams of four on a compact 1.9 km circuit. Poland won its third consecutive Team Relay world title.

What a team. What a day. What a feeling! We came to Kutchan to race together, and we left as World Champions. Proud of every single rider who made this happen. One team, one goal.

The Gran Fondo and the rainbow jersey

To finish, on 30 August, the Gran Fondo road race: 139.5 km with 2,370 m of climbing. I won the 40–44 category and pulled on the world champion’s rainbow jersey.

Rainbow memories

Silver, gold and gold in four days, and the UCI named me the most successful rider of the week. Memories to keep forever.

Aero testing at the velodrome

Speed and position tests with Wyss Training at the velodrome.

We tested helmets and head position, and every run measured my aerodynamic drag, CdA (the lower it is, the faster I go at the same power).

  • aero helmet 1: CdA 0.216 and 0.204
  • aero helmet 2: CdA 0.196 and 0.193, the best result of the day, about 39.8 km/h
  • Scott, basic version: CdA 0.198
  • Scott with extension and aero helmet 2 with the head held lower: about 39 km/h, no CdA calculated

Aero helmet 2 came out best: compared with the first run, my CdA dropped by about 11%. Thank you, Wyss Training, for your help.

A year of focused preparation took me to Lorne, Australia, for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships on the Great Ocean Road. I left with two gold medals and a silver.

  • Gold · individual time trial, women 40–44
  • Gold · team relay with Team Poland
  • Silver · Gran Fondo road race, women 40–44

The time trial and road race results are in the women’s 40–44 age category, not the open classification.

Preparation and the road to Lorne

This result was a year in the making: intense heat training, countless hours of practice, consistency and patience.

The last races before the trip went well. In September I won the opening time trial at RiderMan and left feeling really optimistic about Australia. In early October I won the time trial at the Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, both in my category and in the open, and then my category in the Gran Fondo. Great prep for the World Championships.

The time trial and the rainbow jersey

In Lorne it all came together: I became UCI Gran Fondo World Champion in the time trial, women 40–44, and pulled on the rainbow jersey. I’m so grateful for all the support, guidance and belief that made this journey possible.

The team relay with Team Poland

Then came the team relay in Geelong. I’m so proud to be part of Team Poland: together we won gold and defended the world title.

Unreal atmosphere, amazing teammates and a race to remember.

Tasmania and the end of the season

From the UCI finish line I went straight to Tasmania. The best season ending ever.

Epic views, wild wallabies and the wonderfully weird MONA museum in Hobart. The island was the perfect break.

Thank you

A year of work, three races and three medals. Thank you to everyone who supported me, guided me and believed in me along the way. It turns out the Great Ocean Road really is paved with gold.
